Berlin – On Friday morning, the fire department responded to a large-scale fire in Berlin-Lichterfelde on Am Stichkanal street. The fire broke out on the first floor of a building, where chemicals ignited, releasing toxic smoke gases. The fire department is warning the public to be aware of these gases, which are currently drifting north. Due to the fire, residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed until further notice.
The fire, which is not yet under control, is located in a metal factory. A technical room on the second floor of the factory building was fully engulfed in flames, according to a fire department spokesperson. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
