Taylor Fritz Earns a Stunning Victory at Wimbledon
Fritz Beats Zverev in Five-Set Thriller
American Taylor Fritz pulled off one of the most remarkable victories of Wimbledon on Monday, rallying from two sets down to shock fourth seed Alexander Zverev in a thrilling five-set battle.
A Dream Escape Act
Fritz, the 13th seed, produced a dream escape act, digging deep to win 4-6, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 and punch a hole in Zverev's perfect serving record at this year's tournament.
A Titanic Tussle
The match was a titanic tussle between two of the most in-form players on grass. Zverev had not been broken once in his previous two matches, but Fritz managed to break his serve eight times in a stunning display of aggression and determination.
Turning Things Around
Fritz showed incredible resilience after dropping the first two sets. He raised his level in the third set, breaking Zverev's serve twice to take control of the match. He then continued to dominate in the fourth and fifth sets, sealing the victory with a powerful forehand winner.
Reaching the Quarterfinals
With this victory, Fritz has earned a place in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, where he will face Brandon Nakashima in an all-American clash.
