Imane Khelif Interview

Olympic boxer Angela Carini breaks silence on abandoning fight vs Imane Khelif in highly emotional interview

Carini pulled out of her fight against Khelif after just 46 seconds

Carini says she abandoned because she had never been punched so hard

. .

Italy's Carini pulled out of her fight against Algeria's Imane Khelif after just 46 seconds. She raised her hand to stop the fight after absorbing a flurry of powerful jabs from Khelif in the opening seconds of the first round.

In a highly emotional interview, Carini explained that she abandoned because she had never been punched so hard.

"I have never been hit so hard in my life," Carini said. "I was shocked. I didn't know what to do. I just wanted to get out of there."

Khelif won the fight by default and will now advance to the next round of the competition.

The reason why Khelif is allowed to compete after her opponent walked out of the fight has been revealed.

According to the rules of the International Boxing Association (AIBA), a boxer who wins a fight by default is allowed to compete in the next round, even if the opponent was injured or disqualified.

This rule is in place to ensure that boxers are not penalized for the actions of their opponents.
