'We Wouldn't Be Where We Are': Arike Ogunbowale Gives Deanna Nolan Her Flowers After Breaking Wings Scoring Record

South Bend, IN -

On Saturday, Arike Ogunbowale etched her name into the Notre Dame women's basketball record books, surpassing Deanna Nolan as the program's all-time leading scorer. After the game, Ogunbowale took time to pay tribute to Nolan, who was in attendance at Purcell Pavilion.

"Deanna Nolan is a legend here at Notre Dame," Ogunbowale said. "She's someone that I've always looked up to, and I'm so grateful for her support."

Ogunbowale finished the game with 28 points, giving her 2,580 for her career. Nolan, who played for the Irish from 1996-2000, scored 2,574 points during her time in South Bend.

"It's an honor to break this record, but I couldn't have done it without my teammates and coaches," Ogunbowale said. "This is a team accomplishment, and I'm so proud of everyone who has been a part of this journey."
